...The Andromeda Strain is NOT one of the best science fiction movies ever. Not even close. I wouldn't even put it in my top fifty. In my mind, there are two very different kinds of sci-fi: that which uses elements of science to further the plot and that which builds the plot around the science. I should have known what I was getting into with something based on the work of Micheal Crichton but, I'd always heard that this movie is really great so I gave it a shot.
This stuff is not for me. Crichton was really great at coming up with an interesting scenario and going absolutely nowhere with it. Killer germs from space! That sounds great! I can think of all kinds of different directions that I could go with that! But not Crichton! Forty-something minutes of boring interchangeable characters being decontaminated is not a good movie. Yeah wow you're in an underground lab. Great. MOVE THE FUCK ON. Jesus god... that movie felt like a half-decent episode of the Outer Limits stretched out into two hours of technicolor boredom. Is a little character development too much to ask? Am I nuts to expect a movie to have oh... I don't know.. a theme? Ugh.
and just to prove that I can write something better here's a rough sketch page of something I'm in the middle of doing

I do most of my writing in comics form. If the dialog isn't readable just let me know.
